Abstract
This study examines bicultural adaptation between Thailand’s openness and China’s empiricism and elder rule. Integrating existential psychology (the courage to be disliked, loneliness) and self-regulation theory, it introduces “self‑intervention” as a proactive process of self‑monitoring, judgment, and reaction. Findings reveal a spiral model of disintegration, repair, and rebirth, reframing being disliked as authentic self‑clarification for identity negotiation.
